Sambingo: 2009

I've put the whole Break 3 sequence into the Monkey Machine online drum machine, just like I did with the 6/8 rhythm. To try it out, here's what to do:

1. Select and copy the text below.

2. Go to
http://www.rinki.net/pekka/monkey/monkey2.html

3. In the new window, select File/Import beat from text... on the menu bar

4. Past the text you copied into the text area & click the Import
button at the bottom.

You should hear the whole Break 3 sequence: some bars of Rhythm 1, the whistle signals (played on a cymbal since Monkey Machine doesn't have a whistle), Break 3 itself (cerdos and the rhythm for the Samba, Samba Hey! chant), the whistle signals to switch to Break 2, Break 2 itself and then back to Rhythm 1. (and repeat).

Hello everyone-

Samba practice will be at my house - 48 Dirigio Road - at the usual
time, 6pm Wednesday
(There's a 5:30 meeting at St. John) and it's supposed to rain)

We worked on the 6/8 rhythm at practice today and made progress. I've
found practicing at home helpful and here's an easy way to do it:

1. Copy the text between the lines below:

? Samba practice 6pm Wednesday 9/9 at St John parking lot ?

When we stopped for the summer after the parade we agreed to start
again the second week of September. I really want to go to the meeting
in Ellsworth about offshore wind turbine and that's at 6:30.

Do y'all want to go ahead and practice tomorrow at 6pm at St. John?

If so, give me a call and we can work out getting the drums.

Keep in mind that we have the gig for the Southwest Harbor Public
Libray walkathon at noon Sunday 27 September. After tomorrow we'll
have two more Wednesday's to practice for that. I promise to be at
both those.

Final practice before the parade: 6pm today (Wednesday) at St. John

The parade begins at 9am this coming Saturday 7/11. Plan to be at the
Seal Cove Road parking lot by 8:30 and remember that there's a lot of
traffic congestion. If there are any additional details I'll email.

Thomaston 4th of July parade missing something....

It was a fine parade as far as it went - much bigger than Southwest
Harbor - it's right on Route 1 - 2 community bands, fire engines,
shiny cars, civil & revolutionary war re-enactors, bag pipes and lots
more.

Sambingo would have made it *a*lot* more fun.
